Shopify Gives Small Business Another Option To Fight Against Amazon

The Wall Street Journal (3/13, Mims, Subscription Publication) reported that as e-commerce becomes a necessity for retailers, they seemingly face two options – list goods on dominant marketplaces such as eBay, Walmart, or Amazon, or sell to consumers directly. However, a third option has emerged for small- and medium-size sellers through Shopify, fast becoming a growing giant that binds 1.7 million retailers together outside of Amazon. Shopify’s approach gave sellers access to cloud-based third-party services, and allows them to have more control over branding and customer relationships.
